After eight years as Brewer High School football coach Don Farnham is stepping down. His Witches team went 1-7 this past season, the first year in Class B under the new 4-class MPA setup.

Brewer athletic director David Utterback says Farnham told him about his decision to get down on Monday and that Farnham told team members on Tuesday.

Farnham played high school football for the Witches in the late 1980's. He was an assistant coach at UMaine and Dartmouth.

He took over the Brewer football program in 1993 and was head coach for four years and then came back to coach this latest stint in 2006.

Utterback says the search for a new coach will begin in early April.
