Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell now says that lefty Eduardo Rodriguez will not be ready for start the year and that he will start the season on the disabled list.

That means there is now competition for that spot in the rotation. Henry Owens, Steven Wright and Roenis Elias seem to be the most likely candidates.

E-Rod suffered a patella subluxation in his right knee back on February 27th. He threw off the mound yesterday for the first time since the injury. It was a very light intensity workout.

Farrell is not saying how much time E-Rod will miss but he does say they will not hurry the process of getting the talented lefty healthy.

Red Sox opening day is now just 18 days away.
