Former Bear Nyquist Has Super Sunday[VIDEO]

Former UMaine Black Bear Gustav Nyquist had his best day yet in the NHL - a hat trick plus an assist for his Detroit Red Wings. Another former Black Bear, Jimmy Howard could not stop Alex Ovechin and company. The Washington Caps win 6-5 in overtime on Super Sunday.

Nyquist now has 13 goals and 9 assists in 30 games with the Red Wings this season. It is his first hat trick.

He scored 144 points as a Maine Black Bear from 2008-2011.

Nyquist is under consideration for one remaining spot on the Olympic hockey team from his native Sweden.
