What a wild finish at the 50th Paul Bunyan Amateur Golf Tournament - a three man playoff at Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor. In the end, Sam Grindle from Deer Isle-Stongington came away with the championship when he birdied the 4th playoff hole at Kebo Valley.

Grindle is a former schoolboy state champion for DI-Stonington HS. He finished 4th in the Maine State Amateur Tournament last year and plays college golf at Rollins College in Florida.

The end of regulation resulted in a four-way tie with Grindle, Jack Wyman, Lance Bernier and 5-time champion Ricky Jones. Only three would take part in the playoff as Jones who finished earlier in the day had departed and was an hour and a half away. Officials decided not to wait for his return and proceeded with the three man playoff.

Listen for post-tournament comments from Grindle tomorrow on the Morning Pitch Show on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket at 6am!
