GSA 60 MDI 54

It was Senior Night in Bar Harbor for the MDI Boy's Basketball Team, and the Trojans honored the two seniors on the team, James O'Donnell and Jake Boumil and managers Chase McKim and Thom Paola prior to the game. The George Steven's Academy Eagles ruined the celebration, defeating MDI 60-54 in a hard fought game.

GSA jumped out to an early lead 16-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Kelsey Allen had 10 points for GSA, Will Entwisle, Max Mattson and Finn Davis-Batt each had 2 points for the Eagles. For MDI Riley Swanson had a 3-pointer, Graham Good had 2 points and Drew Rich and Aaron Snurkowski each had a point.

In the 2nd Quarter, MDI went on a 10-0 run to start the 2nd Quarter, before Kelsey Allen hit a 3 pointer to make the score 19-17 GSA with 4:51 left in the half. The half ended with a GSA run of 6 points, to make the score 29-23 GSA. For MDI Snurkowski had 8 points including 2-3pointers. Good had 4 points, and Swanson and Rich had 2 points each. For GSA Nick Szwez had 6 points, Allen had 5 more points, including the 3-pointer and Sidney Beardsworth had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI outscored GSA17-10 to take a 40-39 lead at the end of the Quarter. Swanson, and Snurkowski had 4 points each, Andrew Phelps, Rich, Good, Devin Parlatore each had 2 points and Jake Boumil had a point for MDI. For GSA, Taylor Schildroth had 4 points and Entwisle, Allen and Davis-Batt each had 2 points.

GSA and MDI played back and forth basketball in the 4th Quarter, until Kelsey Allen stole the ball with 45 seconds left and layed the ball up to give GSA the 60-54 lead which is how the game ended. In the 4th Quarter Schildroth had 8 points including a 3-pointer, Allen had 7 points including a 3-pointer and Mattson had 4 points and Davis-Batt 2 points for GSA. For MDI James O'Donnell had 4 points, Good had 4 points and Phelps, Rich and Russell Kropff each had 2 points for the Trojans.

GSA was led by Kelsey Allen with a game high 24 points, while Taylor Schildroth had 12 points. The Eagles were 7-12 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Aaron Snurkowski with 13 points while Graham Good had 12 points and Riley Swanson 9 points. The Trojans were 8-14 from the free throw line.

GSA is now 12-3. The Eagles have 3 games remaining in the regular season, Friday January 30th at Searsport, Monday, February 2nd at Bucksport at 7 PM and then at home on Wednesday, February 4th against Central at 7 PM.

MDI is now 4-12. The Trojans have 2 games remaining in the regular season. They play at the Cross Insurance Center on Tuesday, February 3rd at 7 PM and then at Ellsworth on Thursday, February 5th at 7 PM. The MDI-Ellsworth game on February 5th will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 anbd WDEA Internet Radio.
