A new Dennis Eckersley documentary set to air on the MLB Network will feature the Hall of Famer's recovery from alcoholism and the 1978 trade that sent him to the Boston Red Sox.

Eck: A Story of Saving, will premiere Dec. 13 at 8 p.m.

The documentary will also feature his breakout rookie season with the Cleveland Indians in 1975, his transition from a starter to a closer and the Kirk Gibson home run.

Tony La Russa, Ron Darling, Mark McGwire and NESN announcer Dave O'Brien were interviewed for the documentary.

Eckersley, now a Red Sox analyst for NESN, was a six-time All-Star. He won the AL Cy Young and MVP awards as a member of the Oakland A's in 1992.
