Former UMaine defenseman Ben Hutton scored his first goal as a pro in his first pro game last night for the AHL Utica Comets. Hutton's team beat Rochester 5-1.

After UMaine hockey season ended  last month, Hutton decided to pass up his senior year and turn professional with the club that drafted him, the Vancouver Canucks.

He was assigned to Utica in the AHL and played his first game last night. He scored at the 2:11 mark of the second period.

The win for Utica was the 42nd of the year and guaranteed the Comets a playoff spot.

Hutton scored 9 goals and 12 assists in 39 games for the Black Bears this season.
