Wintry road conditions proved challenging for 3 different drivers on the same stretch of I-95 Saturday evening.

State Police were called to the three mishaps just before 11 o'clock Saturday night in the Northbound lane of the Interstate in Smyrna at mile marker 291. In the first accident, a 2005 Jeep Liberty driven by Lori Deschaine hit a patch of ice and spun out, striking the guardrail and coming to rest in the passing lane, facing South towards oncoming traffic.

In the second incident, a 2010 Ford F250 pickup being driven by Russell Stewart of Hodgdon lost control and rolled over, striking the guardrail. Russell and his passenger, 33-year-old Stephanie Ivey, also of Hodgdon, were transported to Houlton Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

And in the third accident, a vehicle driven by Victoria Stewart left the roadway seconds later and rolled several times. Victoria was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to Houlton Regional and then transported to EMMC due to the nature of her injuries. Her Chevy Trailblazer and Russell Stewart's pickup were totaled in their respective crashes.

Houlton Police were assisted at the scene by Houlton and Oakfield Fire Departments, as well as the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office. The interstate was closed for about an hour while the accidents were cleared.
