Step Inside WWE’s Writers Room in New Netflix Docuseries Unreal
WWE is officially pulling back the curtain. The company just announced a brand new Netflix docuseries titled WWE: Unreal, focused entirely on what happens inside the WWE creative team’s writers room. The show promises to dive into the chaos, drama, and decisions that shape what ends up on Raw, SmackDown, and the company's premium live events.
According to WWE’s official press release, WWE: Unreal is described as “a behind-the-scenes chronicle of the writers, producers, and Superstars fighting to bring sports entertainment to life.”
A teaser trailer dropped alongside the announcement, showcasing glimpses of frantic last-minute script changes, passionate creative pitches, and talent working through their segments backstage. For years, fans have speculated about what really goes on inside WWE’s creative process—now they’re going to get a front-row seat.
The series will premiere on Netflix later this year and is directed by Chris Weaver with Erik Powers serving as showrunner. Executive producers include Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ross Ketover, Keith Cossrow, Ken Rodgers, Jessica Boddy, Lee Fitting, Ben Houser, and Marc Pomarico.
Netflix began its partnership with WWE at the top of 2025, acquiring the worldwide rights to air WWE Raw in a landmark $5 billion deal. The show now streams exclusively on Netflix in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Latin America, and other territories. In addition to Raw, Netflix also became the international home for WWE’s premium live events, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and the Royal Rumble. This is one of the first original projects to be announced since that landmark deal.
No release date has been confirmed yet, but the series is teased for this summer. Based on the teaser, it looks like it’s going to offer the most candid portrayal yet of the people behind the curtain.
