Several sources said Bill Belichick was surprised and disappointed after failing to secure enough Hall of Fame committee support.
Sources say the coach questioned how six Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots — along with two more as a defensive coordinator for the New York Giants — were not sufficient. Another source familiar with his thinking said Belichick believes politics played a role and that the outcome does not reflect his accomplishments. He declined to comment to ESPN.
