Ellsworth Varsity Volleyball Beats Gardiner 3-1

The Ellsworth Varsity Volleyball Team opened their 2024 season with a 3-1 win over the Gardiner Tigers on Thursday, September 5th at Ellsworth High School. The individual set scores were 25-16, 25-11, 20-25 and 25-14.

According to Ellsworth Volleyball Coach John Dyer the Eagle's team service was 88 percent for the night.

Ellsworth Stat Highlights.

• Shanteena Griffiths - 12 service points, 3 aces, 13 kills, 15 digs and 2 blocks
• Lauren Young - 14 service points, 4 aces, 2 kills, 8 digs and 20 service receptions
• Brielle Grindle - 8 service points, 1 ace, 7 kills and 3 digs
• Jordin Mann - 7 service points, 16 assists and 1 dig.

The Ellsworth Eagles 1-0,  will play at Bucksport on Tuesday, September 10th.

Gardiner 0-1 will play at Brunswick on Tuesday, September 10th.

In the JV Match Ellsworth won in straight sets 25-6, 25-8 and 25-10.

We are taking nominations for outstanding performances for  the week September 2 -7th. Please nominate a athlete by sending a email to Chris Popper.. Nominations will be accepted through Sunday, September 8th, with voting taking place September  9th-12th with the winner of Week 1 being announced on September 13th.
