Trenton Acadians Sweep Downeast Captains In Legion Doubleheader

The Trenton Acadians Senior Legion Team swept the Downeast Captains on Monday, July 6th winning 9-4 and 12-8 at Washington Academy.

Game 1

In Game 1 Dawson Curtis picked up the win for the Acadians. He pitched 3.0 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 unearned run. He struck out and walked 4. Luke Horne finished the game, pitching the final 2.0 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 unearned runs. He struck out 1 and walked 3.

Joey Beal hit a 3-run homer in the top of the 1st inning for the Acadians. He finished 1-1

Logan Crowley was 1-3 with a double and drove in 2 runs. Wyl Renwick was 2-3 with a double. Hollis Grindal was 2-2, scoring 3 times.

Grindal, Beal and Renwick each had a stolen base for the Acadians.

Burren Absalom pitched a complete game for the Downeast Captains. He allowed 6 hits and 9 runs, 7 of which were earned. He struck out 2 and walked 4.

Jayden Mahar led the team offensively, going 2-3 with a double. Colby Moholland, Brice Nichols, Daniel Gardner, Max Worcester and Absalom each singled.

Game 2

In Game 2 Wyl Renwick pitched a complete game for the Acadians, allowing 9 hits and 8 runs, all earned, striking out 1 and walking 3.

Hollis Grindal was 2-3 with a double and drove in 4 runs to lead the Acadians.at the plate. Evan Haskel was 2-2 with a double and Logan Crowley had a double and run batted in. Dawson Curtis, Luke Horne, Renwick and Deegan Scott singled.

Brody Robertson started on the mound for the Downeast Captains. He pitched 3.2 innings allowing 7 hits and 8 runs, 3 of which were earned. He struck out 2 and walked 3. Brice Nichols pitched the final 1.1 innings allowing 2 hits and 4 runs, 3 of which were earned. He struck out 1 and walked 2.

Colby Moholland led the Downeast Captains offensively. He was 3-4 leading off with a double and home run, driving in 3 runs. Max Worcester was 2-3 with a double and a pair of runs knocked in. Jayden Mahar, Brody Robertson, and Keagan Dinsmore each had a single.

The Downeast Captains are now 3-7. They will play another doubleheader against the CM Hurricanes at Colby College in Waterville on July 7th with games at 5 p.m. and 7 pm.

The Trenton Acadians are 10-2. They will host the Hammond Lumber Riverdogs in Bucksport on Wednesday, July 8th at 5:30 p.m.
