Remember That Time Jason Varitek Surprised a Fan at Canobie Lake Park?
Jason Varitek played for the Boston Red Sox for 15 seasons before retiring. He left behind a legacy of being one of the best, if not THE best catcher to ever get behind the plate for the Red Sox.
He was the third Red Sox catcher to win a Gold Glove, is a two-time World Series champion, and to this date, has played in more postseason games than any other Red Sox player.
Needless to say, Red Sox fans love "Tek," and when he brought his family to a fun day at Canobie Lake Park in 2022, his wife saw a man with a Varitek shirt on.
Jason Veritek Thrills Man at Canobie Lake Park
Veritek has three daughters from his previous marriage and one daughter from his current marriage with Catherine Panagiotopoulos who now goes by the name Catherine Varitek, which seems a lot easier to pronounce.
Catherine spotted the man wearing the Variitek t-shirt and told her husband that he needed to go over and say hello, while she took video of the encounter.
Varitek walks over to the man who is eating a slice of pizza and asks how it is. He didn't really have anything good to say about the pizza and at this point, didn't recognize who he was talking to.
Varitek's wife then says "I like your t-shirt. Are you a fan of him?" He replied "Yeah. Always," and still didn't realize that it was Jason Varitek. Watch his reaction when Veritek lets him off the hook.
