Believe it or not, the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters are coming up on their 100th anniversary in a few years. Originally the Chicago Globetrotters until 1928 when the name was changed to the New York Harlem Globetrotters and shortened to the team name we know today, the Harlem Globetrotters in 1929.

Over those years, the Globetrotters have been known to play a bit of basketball mixed in with comedy and talent shows, entertaining kids and adults alike. But the Globetrotters do even more than entertain on the court. They also have their own TV show, and no it's not the Saturday morning cartoons from back in the day where "The Globetrotters meet Scooby-Doo or The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island. That was awful.

This show is called  Play It Forward, which follows the Globetrotters as they visit organizations as ambassadors of goodwill helping philanthropic groups get noticed.

The third season of Play it Forward debuted on October 5th on NBC, found locally on News Center Maine and this new season features a visit by the Globetrotters to Camp Sunshine in Casco.

Founded in 1984, Camp Sunshine's mission is to be a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, at no cost to them. A chance for them to relax, recharge, and have fun.

They got the attention of the Globetrotters who paid a visit to Camp Sunshine recently.

Look for Camp Sunshine on the Halrem Globetrotters' Play it Forward on Saturday, October 19 at 10:30 a.m. on News Center Maine.
