The UMaine women's basketball team went to Albany and beat the top dog in the America East Conference 52-44. The Bears tie the Great Danes for #1 spot in AE.

Both teams are now 8-1 in the conference and Maine is now 16-6 overall.

The win stops a 10-game losing streak to Albany and gives Maine their own 8-game winning streak which is the longest since 2005.

Black Bear defense was on point all day holding UAlbany to 25% shooting from the field and holding the league's top scorer, Shereesha Richards, to 15 points with double and triple team efforts.

On offense, Sigi Koizar with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.

Chantel Charles came off the bench to score 16.

Liz Wood was in foul trouble and scored just two points but hauled down nine rebounds.

The Bears don't play again until Sunday. A home game against Hartford.
