Red Sox closer Koji Uehara needs one more appearance to kick in a $4.5-million-dollar option for next year. Not only does that seem a certainty but it seems like it's a good thing for both player and team.

A major league source told ESPNBoston.com that Uehara has a vesting option for next year if he makes 55 apperances this year - he has pitched in 54 games.

Uehara has 12 saves and a 1.35 ERA. In 53 1/3 innings, Uehara has 74 K's and just 9 walks.

Seems $4-million for that is a bargain.
