The UMaine hockey team dropped the opener of their best-of-three playoff series against Vermont 4-2 in a game that was not decided until the final minutes.Maine grabbed a 2-1 lead in the third period on a goal by Will Merchant but it would be short lived as the Catamounts would tie the game less than three minutes later.

With only two minutes and ten seconds to play the Cats got the go ahead goal and added an empty netter to clinch the 4-2 win and take a one game to noe lead in the series. The Bears must now win the next two games to keep their season going and move into the next round.
