South Portland's Charlie Furbush seems to have secured his spot in the Seattle Mariners bullpen. Ten innings of work this spring, 3.48 ERA, eight K's, four walks.

Furbush played one year of college ball at St.Joseph's in Windham before transferring to division-one powerhouse LSU. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and in 2011 was traded to Seattle.

Last year Furbush pitched in 48 games and had a 2.72 ERA for the Mariners. With a strong spring, Furbush is considered a big part of the M's bullpen.

Other Mainer's trying to stick with a MLB club include INF Ryan Flaherty(Deering HS) with Baltimore  and pitcher Ryan Reid(Deering HS) with Pittsburgh.

Pitcher Mark Rogers(Mt. Ararat HS) will start the season on the DL with the Milwaukee Brewers.
