The Toronto Blue Jays stopped the Red Sox 9-7 and stopped the Sox from setting an April winning record. Boston will have to settle for an 18-8 first month of the season.

Jon Lester struggled for the first time, allowing 6 runs and 6 hits in 6 innings. His ERA jumped to 3.11.

Edwin Encarnacion hit two 2-run home runs. The homer in the 7th inning came after the Sox had grabbed the lead on a David Ortiz 3-run double in the top of the 7th.

The Sox finish April with baseball's best record, 18-8, one win shy of a team April win record. The Blue Jays are 10-17.
