The Dexter Tigers held off a late charge from the top-seeded Stearns to claim a spot in Saturday's regional final against the George Stevens Academy.

The No. 1 Minutemen, who trailed throughout the game, were able to cut a double-digit lead to three points in the waning seconds, but No. 5 Dexter (15-6) was able to hold on to earn the semifinal victory in Bangor Friday night.

Senior center Megan Peach had 23 points for the Tigers, including two key free throws in the final minute of the game. Senior Kayli Cunningham added 12 for Dexter. >>GO TO STORY>>

The George Stevens Academy Eagles booked their trip to Championship Saturday, earning a win against the Piscataquis Pirates Friday night at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

No. 2 George Stevens (18-2) pulled away early in the contest, building upon their lead on their way to a 50-29 win.

The Eagles were led by senior standout Morgan Dauk with 17 points. Junior Emma Crosby had nine points and junior Mazie Smallidge and sophomore Juliana Allen each finished with eight points. >>GO TO STORY>>

The defending state champions punched their ticket to the regional final game, cruising past the Dexter Tigers in Friday's semifinal at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

George Stevens (20-0) used its potent offense and stifling defense to to earn their way to the Class C North final against the No. 2 Fort Fairfield Tigers on Saturday.

From the outset, the Eagles controlled the game, jumping out to a 28-10 lead at halftime and 47-17 after three quarters. When the buzzer sounded, the final score was 60-31.

Junior standout Taylor Schildroth led the Eagles with 29 points, many of which came on easy layups off Dexter turnovers. Maxwell Mattson added 12 points. Senior Jarrod Chase has seven points. >>GO TO STORY>>

A balanced Fort Fairfield team ended the Schenck Wolverine's hopes of another upset Friday afternoon. In doing so, the Tigers earned themselves a spot in the Class C regional championship game on Saturday.

The Tigers (19-1) delivered a balanced offensive attack and controlled the boards on their way to a 60-50 win over the No. 6 Wolverines.

Fort Fairfield senior Christopher Giberson finished with 13 points before fouling out of the game with 1:16 left. Junior Isaac Cyr had 12 points, and senior point guard Ryan Player had 10 points. >>GO TO STORY>>
