Van Buren Girls Outlast Fort Fairfield in Semifinal

Parise Rossignol scored 25 points in Van Buren's 39-37 win over the Fort Fairfield Tigers on Thursday night, cementing a spot for the Crusaders in the Eastern Maine finals.

Rossignol, who will play for the University of Maine next year, not only provided offense for the Crusaders, starting off the game by scoring the first four points. She also had a key block in the final seconds to help seal the win.

Megan Jellison had 17 points for the Tigers, which had swept the season series with the Crusaders before Thursday night's loss.

Van Buren enters the finals after beating Limestone in the quarterfinals.

Southern Aroostook Holds On for Overtime Win Over Van Buren

The Southern Aroostook Warriors held on for a 49-45 overtime win over the Van Buren Crusaders in Class D semifinal game at the Cross Insurance Center.

Jacob Rioux of the Crusaders sent the game to overtime with a 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds in regulation. Rioux finished with 27 points, including six three-pointers.

Cameron Landry and Jackson Mathers each had 18 points for Southern Aroostook. Mathers, a freshman, was named player of the game. Nolan Altvater added 10 points.

The Warriors will meet the Hodgdon Hawks in the Eastern Maine Class D final on Saturday.

Hodgdon Hawks Upset Easton, Advance to EM Class D Finals

The No. 3 Hodgdon Hawks boys upset the undefeated No. 2 Easton Bears on Thursday in Class D semifinal action at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Hodgdon held the lead for much of the game, but Easton was able cut it to 6 in the fourth quarter. The Hawks turned back the rally, however, and advanced to the Eastern Maine finals on Saturday with a 45-31 win.

Junior forward Chris Hudson led the Hawks with 19 points. Senior guard Deyrell Vargas added 9. Hudson earned player of the game honors.

"We wanted to keep it fast-paced," Hodgdon senior guard Tyler Sherman said after the game when asked about the keys to the afternoon victory.

Easton was led by sophomore guard Logan Halvorson, who scored 13 points. Hunter Turner, the team's 6'4" senior was held to just 5 points by a tough Hodgdon defense.

The two teams had not met during the regular season.
