The University of Maine men's ice hockey team took down the #3 ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats by a score 4-3 in overtime on Friday night.

The Black Bears fell behind in the second period after Andrew Taverner scored a goal 12:09 into the period and was followed a minute later by another one from Thomas Aldworth.  UMaine would battle back in the third period to get within a goal after Nolan Vesey found the back of the net from the assist by Eric Schurhamer.  Maine would score twice more after the Bobcats extended their lead to 3-1 after Schurhamer and Patrick Shea each found the back of the net with less than ten minutes remaining.  Quinnipiac would commit a penalty in overtime with the score at 3-3 and reigning Hockey East Rookie of the Week Mitchell Fossier notched the game winner 2:08 into the extra session.

Schurhamer ended the night with three points and Rob McGovern had the win in net for Maine, allowing three goals on 28 shots.

The Black Bears are now 3-0 on the season and will host the Bobcats for the conclusion of the series at Alfond Arena on Saturday night.
