Dr. Smith is a Board-Certified OB/GYN specialist who is in private practice in Bangor. His office is located at 12 Stillwater Avenue.

Dr. Smith grew up in Maryland, Virginia, and New York, a result of his father’s Navy assignments. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1973 from the US Military Academy at West Point, and received his MD degree in 1977 from USC School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He completed internship and OB/GYN residency training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., then served as an Army OB/GYN specialist in Germany, Korea, and the United States. During five years of his Army practice he was teaching faculty in Army OB/GYN residency training programs. He has been Board certified since 1985.

Dr. Smith retired from the Army after 22 years of service and had a successful private practice in Tacoma, WA, for eight years. When his hospital closed its Labor and Delivery ward, he relocated east to be closer to family. He now lives in Bangor with his wife, Bonnie, and their three children. He enjoys reading, skiing, jogging, sharing dumb jokes, and trying to keep up with the school and sports events for his children!

Dr. Smith feels very keenly his obligation is to protect the trust that each patient extends to him, whether it involves her unborn child, a medical problem, or health maintenance. He feels that each patient deserves his focused attention and compassion, and hopes that each patient will feel that she benefits from his experience and his skills. Education is a cornerstone of his practice style. He makes certain that each patient understands the rationale for his management plan, and he takes her opinions into account during the planning process.

Dr. Smith and his staff welcome the opportunity to provide a human touch, the caring to go with the health care, and state-of-the-art obstetric and gynecologic services.
