Old Town's Eric Hoogterp is Maine's Mr. Baseball John Winkin Award winner for 2015. The honor goes to the state's best high school senior player.

Hoogterp helped his Old Town Coyotes complete a unbeaten regular season - the only team in the state to go 16-0 in the regular season.

He was named PVC player-of-the-year and pitcher-of-the-year. Hoogterp hit .611 and went 4-0 with a 0.67 ERA on the mound.

The Winkin Award is named after the late John Winkin who coached at Colby, UMaine and Husson.

The award began in 1992. The only other Old Town players to win Mr. Baseball was Jarret Lukas in 2007.

Hoogterp is going to USM to play basketball and says he may try to play baseball for the Huskies.
