Two former UMaine hockey players, Spencer Abbott and Gustav Nyquist are among the leaders in points in the AHL. Abbott plays from the Toronto Marlies, Nyquist is with Grand Rapids.

The two former Black Bears are tied for 5th place in points with 17 among all AHL players.

Nyquist has played in 13 games for Grand Rapids(Detroit Red Wing affiliate). He has scored 7 goals and 10 assists for 17 points.

Abbott has played in 11 games for the Marlies(Toronto Maple Leafs affiliate). He has a goal and 16 assists for 17 points.

Both Nyquist and Abbott received Hobey Baker nominations while at UMaine. Nyquist is in his third pro season. For Abbott, this is his second year as a pro.

Travis Morin, a former college player at Minnesota-Mankato leads the AHL with 24 points. Morin plays for the Dallas Stars farm team in Texas.
