We'd like to congratulate Mt. View High School's Tyler Ripley for being voted this week's McDonald's High School Athlete of the Week.

Ripley received 71 percent of the vote. He finished off the regular season by rushing for 181 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 12 carries to help the Mustangs beat Washington Academy. Tyler has rushed for more than 100 yards in every game this season averaging over 10 yards per carry and is closing in on the 1,300 mark.

Ripley was up against some stiff competition including T.J. Crawford of the Old Town Coyotes (football) T.J. helped the coyotes cap a perfect 8-0 regular season by rushing for 190 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns. The junior running backs performance also put him over the 1,000 yard rushing mark for the season. In total he has 16 touchdowns on the season to lead the team.

Off the gridiron, John Hassett of the George Stevens Academy Eagles was the top finisher at the class C regional cross country championship over the weekend. John finished :43 seconds ahead of the runner-up finisher and was the only class C runner to break the 17 minute mark. His time of 16:20 in the 5K is best in the state among class C runners.
