The Boston Red Sox not only lost a 7-4 game to the Kansas City Royals but also Pablo Sandoval and Blake Swihart who both left the game after sustaining injuries.The Sox were cruising in the game and had a 4-1 going to the bottom of the 5th inning, that's when it all fell apart. Rick Porcello would hit a batter, get called for a balk and allow 4 hits including the go-ahead 2-run homer by Kendrys Morales which made the score 6-4. The Royals would add another run in the 6th inning to cap the scoring and get the win.

Injuries came into play in the game for Boston as well as Pablo Sandoval left the game in the bottom of the 5th inning with a sprained ankle while trying to make a play in the field. Catcher Blake Swihart left the game in the 6th inning after jamming his foot sliding into third base in the 5th inning. Manager John Farrell said the two are listed as day-to-day and x-rays on both were negative for fractures or structural damage.

David Ortiz was elected from the game in the 7th inning for arguing balls and strikes.

The Sox will try to win the series when they play the finale this afternoon.
