PATRIOTS RIDLEYThe third preseason game was supposed to be a dress rehearsal for the regular season, the Patriots hope the opening act is a better performance after losing the the Lions 40-9.The Pats turned the ball over 4 times in the game.Three turnovers came on fumbles by Brandon Bolden, Shane Vereen and Zach Sudfeld. Tom Brady threw an interception and was sacked twice for a loss of 20 yards.Brady finished the game 16-24 for 185 yards and no touchdowns.

Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 166 yards and a touchdown to lead the Detroit offense. Former UMaine Black Bear Montell Owens who signed with the Lions in the off-season carried the ball twice for 2 yards.

New England will now prepare for their final pre-season game against the New York Giants on Thursday.
