Fans inside Alfond Arena thought they were in for an upset win over #1 Quinnipiac after taking a 3-1 lead after two periods. Then the third period was played and it ended 3-3.The Bears couldn't hold down the Bobcats who after cutting the lead to one was able to to get a powerplay goal with just :47 seconds to play in regulation for the game tying goal.

Blaine Byron took the hooking penalty that allowed the Bobcats to gain the man advantage. Neither team could generate any offense in the overtime as the game ended in a tie.

Steven Swavely, Nolan Vesey and Brendan Robbins scored the goals for Maine who falls to 5-13-6 on the season overall. Rob McGovern stopped 30 shots in goal but takes the loss.

Maine will return to Hockey East play when they host Boston University Friday night.
