The Red Sox have added to their bullpen by acquiring RHP Anthony Varvaro from the Atlanta Braves. The Sox give up minor league pitcher Aaron Kurcz and cash.

Varvaro is 30-years-old and appeared in 61 games for the Braves last season. He pitched 54 2/3 innings and had a 2.63 ERA.

Kurcz pitched for the Double-A Portland Seadogs last season.

The deal for Varvaro could mean Burke Badenhop, who is a free agent, may not return.
