Former Mt. Ararat HS standout pitcher Mark Rogers will try to resurrect his career in the Seattle Mariners organization. He has signed a minor league free agent contract with the M's after the Milwaukee Brewers opted to leave him off their 40-man roster back in September.

Back in 2004, Rogers was the #5 overall pick in the MLB draft by Milwaukee and got a $2-million-dollar signing bonus.

Then came arm issues...lots of them.

He did get to the major league level briefly with the Brewers but last season worked just 22 innings in the minors because of more arm problems.

Rogers is only 26-years-old.

Seattle has signed him to a minor league deal but he does get an invitation to spring training camp.

The M's already have one Mainer on their roster, lefty reliever Charlie Furbursh from South Portland.
