He has missed the entire preseason but as the Boston Celtics get ready for the season opener a week from Wednesday, word comes down that Rajon Rondo could return.Speaking to reporters at practice on Monday Coach Brad Stevens said a recent bone scan of Rondo's broken finger indicated significant healing and would not rule out the possibility of Rondo's availability for opening day.

Rondo had surgery to repair the break the day after he slipped in the shower. The team said at that time his recovery would take 5 to 6 weeks. If Rondo returns for the opener, it would put his recovery at just under 5 weeks. Rondo is still waiting to get cleared for full contact and indicated he would not try to rush his return.
