Time to re-write the MLB record books. Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale now owns the record for getting to 2,000 strikeouts in the least amount of innings in the history of the game.

It happened in the third inning of tonight's game vs Cleveland. Sale struck out Oscar Mercado for career strikeout #2,000 in 1,626 innings. He passed Pedro Martinez for the quickest to 2,000 Ks.

Sale becomes the 83rd pitcher in the history of the game to record at last 2,000 strikeouts.
