For the UMaine women's team it was a lack of offense. For the UMaine men's team it was a lack of second half defense. It all spelled two Black Bear losses to Stony Brook - the women fell at home 65-49, the men lost on the road 79-61.

Coach Richard Barron's womens team shot just under 31% from the floor at the Cross Center. The Bears got out rebounded 45-30 and thus gave up 28 points in the paint. Liz Wood led Maine with 15 points.

The Black  Bears are 10-9 overall, 4-2 in America East. Stony Brook is 14-5 and 5-1.

 

In the men's game, Coach Ted Woodward's allowed just 27 points to the Seawolves in the first half but then 52 in the second half. SB shot 52% from the floor.

Maine drops to 3-16 and 1-6. Stony Brook is 15-6 and 7-0.
