Maine's Seth Westcott is a two-time Olympic gold medalist but he will not get the chance to three-peat because USA officials will by-pass him for the snowboardcross team, choosing Nick Baumgartner instead.

The news is not surprising - not even to Westcott.

After tearing an ACL in his knee, Wescott has had little time to come back and compete for a spot on Team USA. He was hoping to finish well enough at the X Games in Aspen, Colorado Friday to show officials that he was healthy enough to be a so called "coaches discretionary pick". But Westcott  never made it to the quarterfinals.

Westcott, who calls Sugarloaf in Maine his home, won gold medals in the 2006 Torino Games and the 2010 Vancouver Games.

The 2014 Games in Sochi begin next month and you can hear daily preview reports on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket. Plus, when the games get underway The Ticket will bring you updates throughout the day and night for Sochi, including live coverage of Team USA hockey.
