UMaine righthander Nick Silva pitched 8.2 innings of 3-hit shutout baseball as the Black Bears beat #3 seed Stony Brook at the America East Tournament Friday night.

The win keeps Maine alive in the tourney. The Seawolves are eliminated.

Friday night, the Black Bears grabbed the lead in the 3rd inning. A Jonathan Bennett hit scored two runs. The Bears added an insurance run in the 8th.

Silva took care of the rest. He struck 10 and walked six, throwing 131 pitches fending off the Seawolves until Jeff Gelinas came in to get the last two outs of the game.

The Black Bears still have a lot of work to do after losing the opening game of the tourney. The Bears face #1 seed Binghamton today at 2:30pm. The must win that one and then win another game at 6pm just to get to championship Sunday.
