Brandon Workman picked up his first career save as the Boston Red Sox squeezed past the Houston Astros 4-3 Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.

Workman worked the 9th inning because manager Alex Cora went with Matt Barnes to get the heavy hitters in the Astros lineup out in the 8th inning.

Chris Sale started the game and went 5.1 innings. He struck out 10 but walked five and left the game with no decision.

On offense, Xander Bogaerts drove in the game winning run in the 7th with a double.

Rookie Michael Chavis, batting leadoff for the game, blasted a home run as part of a two hit day.

Mookie Betts had a three hit day. Christian Vazquez had another two hit day.

The Sox win stops a Houston 10-game win steak.

Next for the Sox, a trip to Toronto for afternoon baseball on Monday. Live coverage on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket starts at noon.
