The Red Sox found another way to lose a game Thursday night...how about a runner at third base getting hit by a batted ball and the runner is in fair territory. When that happens, the runner is automatically out and the ninth inning rally is over.

That's exactly what happened in the 9th inning with the Sox trailing 3-2. Runners at the corners and nobody out. Will Middlebrooks hits a chopper to third right down the line. Pinch runner Jemile Weeks dives back to the bag and as he does the ball hits him - he's out. Jackie Bradley Jr strikes outs. Christian Vazquez grounds out. Game over. Pirates sweep.

And so it goes for the Red Sox.

Brandon Workman took the loss, he is now 1-10. The Sox are now 66-89.
