Back in January, Blake Swihart was in Bangor headlining the Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket 'Sox Young Guns' event. In April, Swihart was opening day Sox catcher. June 4th, everything changed. for the 24-year-old.

Swihart was playing leftfield and sprained his ankle running into the wall.

Manager John Farrell told reporters after last night's Yankee game that Swihart will undergo season ending ankle surgery in North Carolina.

Swihart will have played 19 games for the Sox, 13 of them in the outfield. He hit .258 with five RBI.
