While Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving struggled at times, Jason Tatum took over at times as the Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers in the season opener 105-87.

That statement alone should be a scary one for the rest of the Eastern Conference.

Irving shot just 2-for-14 and had 7 points in 29 minutes. Hayward was 4-for-12 with 10 points in 25 minutes. Both playing a real game for the first time in months.

Meanwhile, the second year Tatum 23 points and 9 rebounds. Marcus Morris added 16 and 10 off the bench. Terry Rozier with 11 and 8 off the bench.

Joel Embiid with 23 and Ben Simmons with 19 led the 76ers.

Game two of the NBA season is Friday night in Toronto for the C's.
