Thayer Scores 40, Hawks Pull OT Upset

The #8 Hermon Hawks pulled off the biggest upset of the quarterfinal so far - a 68-63 overtime win over top seed Oceanside (Rockland-Thomaston). Senior Tyler Thayer scored 40 points to lead the Hawks.

The semi-final round is now set for Class B. Hermon meets #4 Caribou and #10 Ellsworth meets #6 Old Town. Those games are set for Wednesday afternoon.

In the Hermon-Oceanside game, Thayer scored 18 points in the fourth quarter and then added nine in OT to help the Hawks got the win.

In the Caribou-WInslow game, sophomore Donovan Savage hit two free throws with 4.9 seconds left in a tie game to win it for the Vikings.
