Justin Smoak highlighted a 3-run fourth inning by ripping a 2-rbi double over the head of Jackie Bradley Jr in center field which helped the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Red Sox 6-1.The Jays scored all 6 runs off Boston started Rick Porcello who struggled from the start and left the game after 6 innings in which he allowed 6 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks.

Smoak, Josh Donaldson and Ryan Goins each had multiple hit games but as a team had their bats go quiet after Porcello left the game.

The Sox could not get in the swing of things at the plate with only 8 total hits and going 2 for 5 with runners in scoring position. After carrying a hot bat when he was recalled for Pawtucket, Jackie Bradley continues to slump with an 0 fr 3 performance. The Sox outfielder is now 1 for 30 at the plate since September 8th.

Wade Miley pitches game two of the series today and will be opposed by the knuckle ball pitcher R.A. Dickey.
