UMaine officials, Cross Insurance Center officials and Bangor city officials gathered at the new arena to show off the new basketball floor and to talk about their agreement that will place most Black Bear basketball games at the new arena.

The brand new floor was put in place for the first time Thursday afternoon. It is a 94-foot college length floor that will be used for all basketball events. You can't miss the huge Black Bear logo at center court.

The first UMaine game at the Cross Center is set for November 11th, a women's game between UM and the USM team. The exact number of men's and women's games to be played there is not set, although the plan is to play most at the Bangor arena.

UM president Paul Ferguson, athletic director Steve Abbott, Bangor city council chair Nelson Durgin, along with UMaine coaches Ted Woodward and Richard Barron spoke in glowing terms about the new arena and the agreement that has been reached.
