The UMaine women's basketball team came up 4 points short at Stony Brook in the second America East Conference game of the season, 73-69 the final.

Maine drops to 5-11 overall, and 1-1 in conference.  The Seawolves are 2-0 in the league, and improve to 14-1 this year overall.

Stony Brook had 3 starters combine to score 61 of their 73 points, and the Black Bears had a lead in the 2nd quarter but never had the advantage after halftime.

UMaine shot 49% from the floor, and Freshman Anne Simon had 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Junior Maeve Carroll had a new career high 19 points, and logged her second double double with 10 rebounds, and was one assist shy of a triple double finishing with 9 assists.

Amy Vachon's Black Bears are back home Wednesday when they host the UNH Wildcats (4-10, 1-1 AE) at the Cross Insurance Center at 7pm.
