The UMaine Women's basketball team lost their first home conference game of the season Sunday as UMBC rolled to the 20 win against the Black Bears at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor 74-54.

Maine only had the lead for 15 seconds at 7-6 in the first quarter after a Kelly Fogarty basket, Fogarty finished with 10 points, but The Retrievers answered with a basket and never trailed again.

Dor Saar scored a team high 26 points, and added 4 rebounds and 4 assists while playing a full 40 minutes for the Bears in the loss.

Maine drops to 8-14 overall, 4-4 in the America East Conference, and their next game is Saturday in Connecticut playing at Hartford at 2pm.

BALTIMORE (AP) — K.J. Jackson had 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists as UMBC topped Maine 63-53 on Saturday.

L.J. Owens had 15 points for UMBC (9-12, 2-4 America East Conference). Brandon Horvath added 11 points. R.J. Eytle-Rock had 10 points and six rebounds.

Andrew Fleming had 18 points for the Black Bears (6-15, 2-5). Stephane Ingo added eight rebounds.

UMBC matches up against Albany at home Wednesday. Maine faces Hartford at home next Saturday.
