The CAA Rhody Rams have hired University of Central Florida defensive coordinator Jim Flemming to be their next head coach. But first, Flemming and UCF have a New Year's Day matchup with Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl.

Flemming has coached college football for 27 years, including a stint as head coach of Sacred Heart.

The URI job became open when the school released coach Joe Trainer just days after losing to UMaine in the season finale. Trainer had one year left on his contract.

Also in the CAA, James Madison University has hired Ohio State assistant Everett Withers to be their new head coach, replacing Mickey Matthews.

Withers has been an assistant for the Buckeyes for the past two years and has 26 years of coaching in the pros and college.
