Villanova made 289 three pointers going into their WNIT game against Maine and added another 14 to take a 71-60 win and end the Black Bears season.The Wildcats jumped out to a quick 14 point lead in the first five minutes of the game and cruised to a first round win. Villanova shot 58 percent from beyond the arch in the first half including a 4-4 performance by senior Lauren Burford. They ended the game 14 for 27 from the three point line and defensively forced the Bears into 12 turnovers.

Maine was led by Sigi Koizar who poured in 22 points while Mikaela Gustafsson added 17. Liz Wood ended her junior season just missing a double-double with 9 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bears finish the season with a record of 23-9 and return every player next year except for Courtney Anderson, the lone senior on the team.

Villanova will play Old Dominion in the WNIT's second round.
