Warriors Win First Football Title
When it comes to the number 13, the Nokomis High School football team thinks its a pretty lucky number. For the second straight playoff game, the Warriors scored 13 points and won the game. Saturday's win 13-6 over Hermon gives the school its first football title.
The Warriors won their semi-final game 13-0 over MCI.
In the wind and rain, the Nokomis defense held Hermon's talented quarterback Garrett Trask in check with the exception of a 75-yard touchdown run for the Hawks only score.
The Warriors scored their two touchdowns in the first half after getting turnovers - a Hermon fumble and interception. David Wilson cashed in with a TD run. Andrew Haining threw a TD pass to Chance Graves.
Nokomis will make its first state title appearance next Saturday vs Fryeburg Academy.
Hermon finishes its best season ever at 9-2.
