The No. 4 Washburn Beavers held off a late charge from the Bangor Christian Patriots in a Class D quarterfinal match-up at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor Monday night.

The Beavers (14-5) came away with a 45-41 win over the No. 5 Patriots, who made a fourth quarter run that put themselves in a position to win the game with time running out.

But the Patriots were unable to get a good look at the basket in the final seconds, and Washburn was able to use free throws to make it a two possession game with 1.6 seconds left, putting the game out of reach.

Washburn was led by senior Jarrett Olson with 21 points. Mccall Turner added 13.

For Bangor Christian, sophomore guard Dean Grass had 13 points and forward Chirtian Boone had 10.

The Patriots finish the season at 8-10.
