Team USA beat Slovakia 6-3 Saturday morning in Sweden at the World Junior Hockey Tournament. South Portland's Jon Gillies made 27 saves in goal and USA moved to 2-0 in pool play.

Six different players scored goals for the United States team. Three of the goals came on the powerplay.

Gillies, who is a sophomore goalie for Providence College, is now 2-0 as Team USA starting goalie.

The World Junior Tournament features the best young players around the world under 20-years-old.

The next game in pool play is Sunday against Germany.
